The Board of Education will be meeting in Called Session on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Boardroom at the Central Office. The purpose of the meeting will be:
*Budget Update & Second Public Hearing
*Personnel Actions


On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, the Monroe County Board of Education named Lance Rackley, Jones County High School Principal, as the new Assistant Superintendent for Personnel & Operations, effective July 24, 2023.
Mr. Rackley started his career in business and industry, before moving to education in 2002. He earned his BBA in Business Administration as a Finance major from the University of Georgia, as well as his M.Ed. in Business Education. He obtained his Ed.S in Educational Leadership from Georgia College & State University.
Mr. Rackley is married to Laura, the Executive Director for Human Resources in Jones County Schools. They have two sons. James is a 2023 JCHS graduate and is headed to UGA this fall. John will be in the 9th grade at Jones County High School.
Mr. Rackley will fill the spot vacated by Dr. Jim Finch when he became Superintendent of Monroe County Schools.

On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, the Monroe County Board of Education approved Dr. Jim Finch as the next Monroe County Schools Superintendent. He will replace outgoing Superintendent Dr. Mike Hickman, who will retire at the end of the month.
