Shortly before 5 p.m., the fire alarms went off at the Board of Education. Central Office staff evacuated while the fire department checked the building. The cause of the alert was a faulty smoke detector. Thank you to the City of Forsyth Fire Department for their quick response.

The railroad crossing at Harold G. Clarke Parkway and 41S in front of the Monroe County Achievement Center will be closed until 9 a.m., according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. You may need to take an alternate route to get to school and allow extra time for traffic.

In our first year offering swimming, Maela McKallip won the 50 meter freestyle state championship. She also earned 2nd place in the 100 meter freestyle state competition. Congrats!
And finally, our Mary Persons Girls Basketball team is fighting its way to the top spot. The girls move on to the Elite 8 and will travel to Hebron Christian Academy on Feb. 28. Good luck!
