On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the Monroe County Board of Education recognized Ms. Ann Haines as a Monroe County Schools Friend of Education for the kindness, generosity, and unwavering support she has shown to countless students in Monroe County.

Ms. Haines attends nearly every performance, concert, and event—not because she has to, but because she wants every child to know there is someone in the audience who is there simply because they care. She believes every student deserves to feel supported, encouraged, and celebrated.

Although Ms. Haines does not have children of her own, she has become an honorary family member to hundreds of our fine arts students. They know her by name, they look for her in the audience, and they know they can count on her smiling face in the front row. In fact, if Ms. Haines is unable to attend an event, she calls ahead because she knows the students will notice—and worry—if she is not there.

Her support extends far beyond attendance. Ms. Haines quietly and generously provides financial assistance to programs across our district. When a student is unable to afford an opportunity, supplies, or participation fees, she is often the first person we call—by her own request. She simply wants to help our students succeed.

Ms. Haines’ love for the arts and her devotion to our students have made a lasting impact on Monroe County Schools. Her generosity reminds us that the greatest gifts are often the ones given with no expectation of recognition.

Ann Haines, thank you for the countless ways you have supported our students, encouraged their dreams, and enriched their lives. You are truly a blessing to our schools and our community.  For your extraordinary dedication and service, we are proud to recognize you as a Monroe County Schools Friend of Education.
