For Immediate Release
At its June meeting, the Monroe County Board of Education named CEO Casey Fleckenstein and Monroe County Hospital as a 2026 “Friend of Education” to Monroe County Schools for their outstanding partnership and support of Monroe County College and Career Academy.
Under Ms. Fleckenstein’s leadership, Monroe County Hospital has become one of the CCA’s most engaged and dependable community partners. As a member (and now Chair) of the CCA’s Board of Directors and a passionate advocate for local workforce development, Ms. Fleckenstein and Monroe County Hospital have consistently invested time, expertise, and resources to help connect classroom learning with real-world career opportunities. Her commitment reflects a deep belief in preparing Monroe County students for successful futures while strengthening our local healthcare workforce talent pipeline.
Throughout the implementation and growth of MCCCA, Fleckenstein and Monroe County Hospital have been active participants in every major student and community engagement initiative, including advisory committee meetings, mock interviews, our “Reality Check” event, senior shadow event host site, career fair participant, Phlebotomy pathway development partner, host of industry externships for counselors and teachers, equipment donor, work-based learning partnering work site, and most recently our community industry partner as we pursue the Economic Development Partnership designation with the Georgia Department of Education. Ms. Fleckenstein has not only participated in these events personally, but also encouraged and organized other hospital staff members to serve alongside her as well.
A Monroe County hospital employee for more than two decades, Casey Fleckenstein began her career as a staff nurse and rose through numerous leadership roles before becoming CEO. Her servant leadership, dedication to excellence, and commitment to her community make her a remarkable example for our students. Through her efforts and the continued partnership of Monroe County Hospital, students gain valuable exposure to healthcare careers, professional mentorship, and opportunities that help prepare them for life beyond graduation.
Monroe County Schools is thankful for Casey Fleckenstein and the Monroe County Hospital for their extraordinary partnership, and for making a lasting impact on the students, families, and future workforce of Monroe County as a true “Friend of Education.”
