On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the Monroe County Board of Education voted unanimously to adopt the 2025 rollback millage rate of 16.171 mills, a decrease from last year’s rate of 16.212 mills. This action ensures there will be no inflationary increase in property taxes for Monroe County residents.

Each year, the Monroe County Board of Tax Assessors reviews property values across the county to reflect changes in the housing market. Based on these updated values, the Tax Commissioner’s office calculates a rollback millage rate, which is the rate needed to generate the same overall revenue as the prior year without collecting additional taxes due to inflation or higher property values.

By adopting the rollback rate this year, the Monroe County Board of Education is demonstrating its commitment to responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars and transparent communication with the community. The Board will continue to carefully evaluate financial needs and tax impacts each year to balance high-quality education for students with fairness to local taxpayers.
