Mrs. Alicia Elder began her teaching career in 1999 as a teacher and coach at Upson Lee Middle School in Thomaston, Georgia. In the years to follow, Mrs. Elder served as assistant principals and principals in both Upson and Monroe County Schools. She then moved into her current role as Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning for Monroe County Schools.
Mrs. Elder received her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Georgia Southern University in 1999, Master of Education Degree from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2001, Educational Leadership Endorsement from Troy State University in 2003, and Specialist in Educational Leadership Degree from Cambridge College in 2007.
Mrs. Elder serves as a member of One Monroe, Forsyth-Monroe County Rotary Club, Monroe County Literacy Council, Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL), Georgia Association of Curriculum and Instructional Supervisors (GACIS), Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), and the Georgia Association of Gifted Children (GAGC).
