As we continue with American Education Week, today at TGS we celebrated our staff with lunch from MacFoods sponsored by Custom Stuff and Primary Pediatrics with yummy cookies from United Bank. We are so grateful for these community business partners who help honor our educators!

Thank you to community business partners 5 Star Painting, Go Clean Co, Middle GA Realty, and Zaxby’s for a "zenzational" kick off to American Education Week! TGS staff thoroughly enjoyed our Zalads and appreciate the support from these sponsors!

Big shout out to Ms. Lydia Moreno who is our most recent Flint Energies Bright Ideas grant recipient! She applied for and received the maximum grant of $1500 for her project idea, RoboQuest: A Cross-Curricular Adventure through Content Standards.
Bright Ideas, a grant program sponsored by the Flint Energies Foundation and Flint Energies, awards teachers money for innovative lessons and projects to energize learning in their students. In 2023, a total of $25,000 was awarded using participating Flint Members’ small change through Operation Round Up®. Since 2006, nearly $350,000 has been awarded to fund projects reaching more than 12,000 students in Middle Georgia.
Flint Energies hopes that these grants will inspire teachers to think outside the box and create exciting projects that enrich the education experience for their students. Congrats to Ms. Moreno who is certainly doing just that!

Thank you to WoodmenLife for the generous donation to our TGS Book Blast! Focused on "building a Nation of Readers," Book Blast is spreading a love for reading across the United States, and we so appreciate the support for the program from one of our community business partners!

TGS family and friends, after a great Red Ribbon Week helping students to understand the importance of making positive choices which lead to a brighter future, we need your help to win the RRW Photo Contest! Please go to the link in the comments and vote once a day until 11.16!

Don't forget! 24 hours from now, the fun begins with Science Night in the back parking lot! Join us for a night of expansion and explosion with games and activities, goody bags, door prizes, and snacks. Bring the whole family for the fun, and wear tie dye to school tomorrow!

DK Designs is again partnering with TG Scott Elementary PTO for a fundraiser to remember! On Tuesday, October 29, we will capture your child's handprint to create a one-of-a-kind keepsake ornament for you to treasure for years to come!
The painted handprint will go on a 7" wooden circle that will be personalized with a hanger, decorative beads, and completed with a gloss finish. Finished ornaments will be returned before Christmas break.
These ornaments make wonderful gifts, so don't forget the grandparents and special influences in your child's life! Order multiples and support TGS! Your support is greatly appreciated!
Order forms were sent home with your child last week, but if you'd like additional copies, please reach out to your child's teacher. The deadline to order is October 28.

Big congratulations to Mrs. Kimberly Driskell and Mrs. Ashton Watts who are our most recent Southern Rivers Energy Bright Ideas grant recipients!
The Bright Ideas program began with the North Carolina Statewide EMC in 1994 and has since been adopted by many EMCs across the country, including Southern Rivers Energy. It is funded by their Operation Round Up program and is aimed at providing teachers in their communities with the tools they need to make their creative and innovative lesson plans a reality for their students. Southern Rivers Energy hopes that these grants will inspire teachers to think outside the box and create exciting projects that enrich the education experience for their students. This year alone, they have awarded over $15,000 to 17 teachers in 14 schools across 6 counties, and we are proud of our TGS teachers who took the time, initiative, and creativity to apply and win!

Join us for the easiest day of the week to dress for! The Red Ribbon Week theme for Wednesday, 10.23, is Put Drugs to Sleep so you can just roll out of bed and wear your school appropriate pajamas!

Red Ribbon Week continues tomorrow, Tuesday, 10.22, with Peace Out to Drugs!
Have fun wearing Peace Signs or Tie-Dye!

Thank you to everyone in our school system who helped support our recent Jay's Hope Hats4Hope day. Together we raised funds to assist local families battling childhood cancer while also raising awareness about the fight. The mission of Jay’s Hope is “to improve the quality-of-life of children with cancer and their families in Georgia by extending HOPE through social, emotional, spiritual, educational and financial support.” HES, KBS, TGS, and MCMS are honored to have participated in this campaign and today presented a check to Jay’s Hope for nearly $1200. Thanks for giving HOPE!

Don't forget that Monday, 10.21, is Don’t Get Mixed Up with Drugs for Red Ribbon Week! Please have fun with it, and wear mismatched clothes!

Thanks to Glenda Davis and WoodmenLife, a Buddy Bench was installed on the upper grades playground at TG Scott Elementary School today. This special bench is designed to promote friendship and inclusion among students. When students feel lonely or want someone to play with, they can sit on the Buddy Bench, signaling to their classmates that they would like a buddy to join them.
To further encourage kindness and inclusion, all 3rd through 5th grade teachers will read "The Buddy Bench" by Patty Brozo (also donated by WoodmenLife) with their classes. This book helps students understand the importance of looking out for others and being a good friend during recess.
We are so grateful to WoodmenLife for recognizing needs in schools and working to fulfill those needs. This bench helps students at TGS to fulfill our mission of being respectful, and we look forward to the benefits they will experience through this gift.

Big shout out to another generous Science Night sponsor - thank you, SportClips! We so appreciate the partnership and willingness to support this fun family event - we can't pull off a successful event like this without assistance. If you'd like to help, please let us know!

Attention, adventurers! Our Book Blast event starts next week, and we will set off in search of treasure to build our students' home libraries. Follow the steps on the Treasure Map coming home to embark on a jungle quest to earn exciting prizes and books.
