Congratulations to Exie Ivey, MCMS 8th grader, who successfully defended her title as Monroe County Schools District Spelling Bee Champion! We are so proud of her and wish her all the best as she prepares for the next competition on February 28.
Good luck, Exie!
Good luck, Exie!

Right before Christmas break, MCMS staff honored a true MC Schools hero upon her retirement.
Lareeta Phinazee worked for 31 years in our district, the last 21 at MCMS, caring for students and staff, keeping the office organized and efficient, and maintaining a standard of excellence which set an example for all who had the privilege of working with her. More importantly, she loved her people and this school system and leaves this place better for having been here. Going above and beyond her job description, she has been a mother figure, a counselor, an advisor, a right hand, a queen, a boss, and a friend to many over the years.
Thank you, Mrs. Phinazee, for your devotion and service. You will be missed more than words can express! Enjoy your well deserved retirement (but please come back and see us)!
