Proof of Residency Process for

2020-2021 School Year

Monroe County Schools' proof of residency process will look different this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Monroe County Schools Centralized Registration welcomes new students and returning students. In order to optimize for the wellbeing and safety of students, parents, and staff, please adhere to the following procedures:

If the student is progressing to the next school (fifth to sixth or eighth to ninth) OR returning to the same school they attended last year, the proof of residency used in the 2019-2020 school year will remain for those students again in the 2020-2021 school year as long as the student resides at the same address.

RETURNING STUDENTS WHO HAVE NO RESIDENCY CHANGES WILL NOT HAVE TO COMPLETE PROOF OF RESIDENCY UNLESS CONTACTED DIRECTLY BY MONROE COUNTY SCHOOLS.

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR MONROE COUNTY SCHOOLS TO HAVE CORRECT CONTACT PHONE NUMBERS.  IF YOU HAVE HAD A PHONE NUMBER CHANGE, PLEASE MAKE SURE WE HAVE THE CORRECT INFORMATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

For some students, the system registrar will reach out directly to the family to get up-to-date information (driver's license has expired, property tax records indicate a new owner, or rental property owner indicates new residents have now occupied that unit.)

For returning students and families who need to update information, please look for that correspondence through a callout and email.  Follow up information inquiries will come directly from Lakeisha Calloway, System Registrar. Monroe County Schools encourages this process to be done online versus face-to-face for the safety and wellbeing of staff members as well as the transferring student and parent/guardian. If you receive an email or call out requesting updated information, you will receive instructions on how to upload/mail this new information.  For safety and wellbeing of all involved, updated proof of residency will not be accepted face-to-face unless an appointment is made first with the system registrar. If you have questions, please reach out to Lakeisha Calloway at lakeisha.calloway@mcschools.org.
