Child Find

What is Child Find?

  • Child Find is a legal requirement that schools find all children who have disabilities and who may be entitled to special education services.

  • Child Find Covers every child from birth through age 21.

  • The school must evaluate any child that it knows or suspects may have a disability.

What Are The Steps of Child Find?

1. Enroll in Monroe County Schools

2. Complete and return the referral form, social and developmental history form, necessary documents for enrollment, and other pertinent documentation to Sheri Williams at sheri.williams@mcschools.org.

3. Ms. Williams will schedule a meeting date that is convenient for the parents to meet the school based team.  The child should be in attendance at this meeting.

4. If needed an evaluation will be scheduled
